Privacy Policy for LocalTV+

Mass Local TV, Inc. (“we,” “us”, or “our”) deeply respects your privacy. We are committed to protecting your privacy through our compliance with this Privacy Policy (the “Policy”), which describes: 

  • The types of personal information that we may collect in connection with your use of “LocalTV+ Services,” including: LocalTV+ mobile applications, LocalTV+ applications on smart televisions or other home devices, and the LocalTV+ website, yourlocaltv.org.
  • Our practices for collecting, using, maintaining, protecting, and disclosing your personal information. 

Overall, we aim to minimize the amount of your personal information that we collect and retain. Please read this Policy carefully to understand our practices regarding your information. If you do not agree with our practices, please do not use LocalTV+ Services and delete LocalTV+ applications from your devices. By using LocalTV+ Services, you agree to this Policy. 

1. Information we collect

  1. Log-in Information. You will be asked to provide your email address when creating a LocalTV+ Account to log in to use LocalTV+ Services. You may also log in to Local TV+ Services through a third-party log-in service; we may receive and retain any information that is provided to us by the third party and reasonably necessary to provide LocalTV+ Services to you.
  1. Geolocation information that you provide to us. When you access LocalTV+ Services, you may be asked to provide your geolocation information to verify that you are in our geographic coverage area. We do not retain such geolocation information for longer than is reasonably necessary to fulfill the purpose of verifying your eligibility for LocalTV+ Services. You have the right to decline to allow us to collect geolocation information, in which case we may not be able to provide LocalTV+ Services to you. If you consent to providing your geolocation information, we will collect such information from your mobile device, wireless carrier, or other third-party service providers.  
  1. Other information collected for functional purposes. When you download, access, or use LocalTV+ Services, we may use automatic data collection technologies to collect certain information about your device and your usage activity. Such information may include: 
  • Device Information. We may collect information about your device and internet connection, including the device’s unique device identifier, IP address, operating system, browser type, and mobile network information. 
  • Usage Details. We may collect certain details of your access to and use of LocalTV+ Services, including the date and time of your use, traffic data, and other performance and usage data. 
  • Information From Cookies: We may use cookies or similar tracking technologies to enhance your experience with LocalTV+ Services. Cookies are small text files that may be used to recognize repeat visitors to LocalTV+ Services. We only use cookies for functionality purposes, such as maintaining session states. We do not use cookies for third-party advertising purposes. 
  • Information from Web Beacons: We may use web beacons that permit us to count users who have visited LocalTV+ Services and to aggregate other related statistics, such as recording the popularity of certain content and verifying system and server integrity. 
  1. Any personal information that you voluntarily provide when contacting us via email or other means.

2. How we use your information

We use information that we collect: 

  • To provide you with LocalTV+ Services; 
  • To communicate with you, solicit your feedback, and inform you about our services; 
  • To carry out our obligations and enforce our legal rights; 
  • To fulfill any other purpose for which you provide your information to us; and 
  • In any other way we may describe when you provide the information, or for any other purpose with your consent. 

In particular: 

  • We use your email address to create and manage your LocalTV+ Account, to communicate with you, and for the other purposes listed above. 
  • We use your geolocation information and IP address to determine if you are eligible to access LocalTV+ Services, but we do not retain this information for longer than reasonably necessary to fulfill this specific purpose. 
  • We use and analyze the usage information that we collect to improve LocalTV+ Services, such as by estimating our audience size and usage patterns. We retain aggregated, anonymized information about users’ viewing patterns; we do not retain any personally identifiable information about what content you watch through LocalTV+ Services.

3. Disclosure of personal information

We do not use or disclose your information for third-party advertising purposes.

We publish aggregated, anonymized statistics about LocalTV+ Services for internal and external reporting purposes, but no personally identifiable information is included in these reports.

In addition, we may disclose personal information that we collect:

  • To our subsidiaries and affiliates; 
  • To contractors, service providers, and other third parties we use to support the functionality of LocalTV+ Services and to determine if a user is eligible to access LocalTV+ Services; 
  • To fulfill the purpose for which you provide it; 
  • For any other purpose disclosed by us when you provide the information, or otherwise with your consent; 
  • To comply with any court order, law, or legal process, including to respond to any other mandatory government or regulatory request; 
  • To enforce our rights arising from any contracts entered into between you and us, including our Terms of Service; 
  • If we believe disclosure is necessary or appropriate to protect the rights, property (including intellectual property), or safety of us, our customers, or other third parties; and
  • To a successor in the event of a restructuring, reorganization, dissolution or transfer of some of our assets, whether as a going concern or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation, or similar proceeding, in which personal information held by us about our users is among the assets transferred. 

4. Choices about how we use and disclose your information

It may be possible to refuse to accept cookies by activating the appropriate setting on your mobile phone or browser. However, if you select this setting, you may be unable to access certain parts of LocalTV+ Services.

You have the right to decline to allow us to collect geolocation information, in which case we may not be able to provide LocalTV+ Services to you.

If you do not want us to use your email address for communicating with you, you can opt-out by sending us an email stating your request to masslocaltv@gmail.com.

5. Accessing, correcting, and deleting your personal information. 

You have the right to access, correct, and request the deletion of your personal information by emailing masslocaltv@gmail.com. Please be specific about the information that you would like to access, correct, or delete. We will use commercially reasonable efforts to process such requests in a timely manner and in a manner consistent with applicable law. 

You may also delete your account by clicking the “delete account” button on the LocalTV+ application. In response, we will remove your account and any associated data. 

6. Children’s Privacy

LocalTV+ Services are not intended for children under 18 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you are under 18, please do not use  LocalTV+ Services or otherwise provide any information about yourself to us. If we learn we have collected or received personal information from a child under 18, we will delete that information. If you believe we might have any information from or about a child under 18, please contact us at masslocaltv@gmail.com. 

7. Data Security

We have implemented measures that are designed to secure your personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. For example, we encrypt your Account password and store personal information on secure servers behind firewalls. 

However, no system is completely secure, and although we do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee absolute security of your information. In the event of a data breach involving your email or account credentials, we will notify affected users in compliance with applicable laws.

The safety and security of your information also depends in part on you. You are responsible for keeping your Account password confidential, and we ask you not to share your password with anyone. Moreover, any email that you send to us may not be secure, and you should take special care in deciding what information you send to us via email. 

8. Third-party information collection

This Policy applies only to information we collect in connection with LocalTV+ Services and does not address the privacy or data collection practices of any third parties that we do not own, do not control, or are not affiliated with.

Your app store may collect certain information in connection with your use of LocalTV+ applications. We have no control over the collection of such information by a third-party app store, and any such collection or use will be subject to that third party’s applicable privacy policies.

When you use LocalTV+ Services, certain third parties also may use automatic information collection technologies to collect information about you or your device. These third parties may include: 

  • Analytics companies;
  • Your mobile device manufacturer or provider;
  • And others.

The information they collect may be associated with your personal information or they may collect information, including personal information, about your online activities over time and across different websites, apps, and other online services websites. They may use this information to provide you with interest-based advertising or other targeted content.

We do not control these third parties’ tracking technologies or how they may be used. If you have any questions about an advertisement or other targeted content, you should contact the responsible provider directly.

9. Changes to this Policy

We reserve the right to update this Policy from time to time. The date this Policy was last revised is identified at the top of the page. Your continued use of LocalTV+ Services after we revise this Policy means that you accept any revisions, so please periodically visit this Policy to check for any changes.

If we make material changes to how we treat our users’ personal information, it is our policy to notify you via the email connected with your Account or through a notice provided on LocalTV+ Services. You are responsible for ensuring that we have an up-to-date active and deliverable email address for you.
